Blizzard Diablo 2 If I download diablo 2 basic, will my expansion work?
i have the expansion and my cd-key. i need to know if i downloaded the basic version (just the system files) if my expansion disk will install afterward. i lost my basic edition and nobody has just the game on any sites. i also contacted blizzard about the situation and have no answer yet. if anybody has just the system files that i could copy to my computer that would let me know if i need to re-purchase the basic disk again.
If you were able to install classic using any kind of way (borrowing from friend, downloading etc.), then you would be able to install the expansion over it and you would be fine.
If you're going to do that, make sure you copy the MPQ files from the classic CD before you give it back (as some of them are needed to play without the CD even on the expansion).
Also, if you still have the CD key of your basic version, you can register it on Blizzard's website and download it for free.

I know there is a place in their online store where I can buy D2 and D2:LoD CD keys, but I need an exact link where and I need to know what they cost.
