Character movement is all done with taps. I thought about doing a d-pad, but I’m basing this off of the assumption that, if Blizzard ever lost their minds and ported Diablo 1 to iOS, they’d do something like this. Tap to move, if you move more than one square away, the monsters all get that number of ‘moves’. I figure out the shortest path to a destination based on diagonals counting as one movement, then give the monsters that same number. It’s a bit like D&D with movement/standard/minor, except that the attack phase happens after movement, and you only get one ‘strike’. I toyed with movement points == attack points, but if you move 5 squares, next to an out-of-sight enemy, you were about to get really messed up, really quickly. Definitely long term plans. I’d like it to be a success (infer whatever you like), but working a full-time job doesn’t give as much side-time to do this as I’d like. The next version (1.2) is going to have better character progress indicators, with these little medal things that track which characters have beaten which difficulty levels. Oh, and difficulty levels, too. The characters aren’t differentiated enough yet, so I’m adding that in, too. I’m also planning another 7 classes to add, probably as a buck or two for IAP. Difficulty right now is pretty easy, for the most part. You will occasionally get bum-rushed, and may starve, but past that, it’s a pretty approachable roguelike. Which, actually, is a good thing, because the difficulty that everyone’s playing on currently is basically going to become easy mode. I was worried that people would complain, but I was more worried that I’d have more fundamental problems with how the game was actually played. Hearing “boo it’s easy” means that, hey, the players are probably actually having fun, and just want more challenge. Challenge I can do. Thank you very much :) It was certainly the hardest step for me, too! I got one hilarious review early one, where a guy lambasted me for ‘releasing an early, unfinished product’. Well, shit, random-guy, thanks for the enthusiasm! If I hadn’t pushed it to Apple when I did, I’d probably still be playtesting/noodling/polishing/belly-button-linting.

You will never get that kind of performance from anything on your list. Your expecting too much.

IMO smart phones will NEVER replace laptops — You don't have nearly the same kind of productivity as you do with a full keyboard, and full-sized screen.

My vote goes to the netbook — However you won't be able to watch HD content or play Portal or TF 2! I can run CS 1.6 on my netbook, but it's struggling to make 20 FPS.
