A bit scary but totally awesome!
I was forced to downgrade back down to it once. All I could afford was Kmart’s Bluelight service (I think it was $7/month). You had to run this awful always-on-top toolbar application to stay connected (it would even try to force itself over the top of my online games — I think I was into Diablo II at the time — adding extra challenge). The only thing I ever created in VB was a program to wiggle my mouse so I could avoid the idle-for-ten-minutes-and-we-disconnect-you feature, so I could download MP3s and stuff while I slept. I guess I have fond memories of it now, but while I was dealing with it… man, I thought it was hell on earth.
I never had any game console, just computers. The only game I ever really, REALLY got sucked into was Diablo II. I spent an insane amount of time on it. Gaming was pretty much all I did after I came home from school, from age 13 to 18. I don't really remember why I stopped, but now I'm glad I did.
Have you watched the talk? This is not the only impressive number in it. Extremely entertaining and thought-provoking stuff. As is almost anything on TED, by the way.
Holy crap, he ripped off Chris's upper body from his lower. XD
