Can anyone recommend a good book or series?

I've been reading a lot lately, and I just can't find a good book or series that will keep me occupied for a while. Recently, I've read

Harry Potter
Anne Rice
Inheritance Cycle
Riley Jenson Guardian Novels
Twilight saga
Blood and Chocolate
Judith McNaught Novels
His Dark Materials
Diablo series
Enders Game series
The Dark Tower series

Can anyone help me? I really like fantasy books, as well as romance. Thanks ahead!

Terry Goodkind. Wizard's First Rule and sequels.
Spellsong Chronicles by L. E. Modesitt. starting with The Soprano Sorceress
John Ringo's Counsel Wars series (There Will be Dragons, Emerald Sea, Against the Tide, and East of the Sun, West of the Moon)
Anne McCaffrey. Dragon Riders of Pern books
Alice Borchardt. Silver Wolf, The Night of the Wolf, and Wolf King
Garth Nix. Sabriel, Lireal, and Abhorsen
Noel-Anne Brennan. Sword of the Land and Blood of the Land
Steven Brust's books about assassins. In order they are Taltos, Yendi, Dragon, Jhereg, Teckla, Phoenix, Athyra, Orca, and Issola. They can be read out of order and make perfect sense, though.
Robin McKinley's books. Any of them are great.
Deborah Hale. Wizard's Ward and Destined Queen
Marian Zimmer Bradley.
Andre Norton. Mark of the Cat
Alice Hoffman. Green Angel
Michael Crichton. Any of his books.
Tanya Huff. Summon the Keeper and sequels.
Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. Den of Shadows series and her shape shifter series starting with Hawksong
Diana Wynne Jones. Any of her books.
Morgan Llywelyn. Bard: The Odyssey of the Irish is a wonderful read. If you are interested in Amergin the bard, or anything Irish for that matter, try out this book.
Jennifer Roberson. Chronicles of the Cheysuli
Gregory Maguire. Wicked. He wrote some other books based on fairy tales, like Mirror Mirror.
Robert T. Bakker. Raptor Red
Kate Elliott. Spirit Gate and sequel
Diane Duane. So you Want to be a Wizard and sequels.
Donna Jo Napoli. Sirena and Beast. Check out her other books too
Lisanne Norman. Turning Point and sequels
Stuart Hill. Cry of the Icemark and sequels
The Last Unicorn – Peter S. Beagle
Terry Pratchett. Any of Pratchett's books.
Madeleine L'Engle. A Wrinkle in Time and sequels
Tamora Pierce. Immortals series, and all her other books as well.

I know it's a long list, but there's bound to be something I mentioned that you'll like.

Ahh, the computer RPG genre. I am mainly a pen'n'paper RPG player, and the computer kind are in my opinion a meager substitute for the real thing.

The things that attract me to RPGs are the social interaction, the game aspect and the story telling.

These days the social interaction might be filled to some extent by MMORPGs, but I hope that games in the future will allow for a greater sense of immersion.

The game aspect has been covered pretty decently from the start in the history of computer RPGs, even though the freedom of play with a real life GM instead of a set of programmed rules makes the latter pale in comparison.

But the real deficiency in computer RPGs compared to pen'n'paper ones is in the story telling. There might be a story in the game but it is usually no more affected by the player than a book is by the reader. The main exception to this that I have played is Deus Ex, where there actually are several different ways to play the game. Not only playing as different character classes like in the Diablo-series of the game, but the actions of the player have actual consequences on the plot.

While I can enjoy a computer RPG once in a while I think it will take years of technological advancement before I find them as enjoyable as the real ones.

    Hi,

I'm also a bit concerned about certificate system. Leveling is something that has old, good tradition. Non-leveling games are very, very rare and most player base has no idea how rpg game or mmorpg can work without levels. I'm also a bit concerned.

However I believe that grinding for exp is something that is going to eventually die in time. If you look at the market, usually there are levels but not always there is grinding. Examples? 'Eve online' where you have levels, each skill have 5 of them, they are trained passively (no grinding) over time and when you are lev 5 you get extra 2% to your damage output (no big gap between noob and pro, but still there is a gap). Another example? Bioshock or Civilazation IV, as you proceed through the game (in Bioshock) or you units fight on the battlefield (Civilization IV) you learn new skills (in Bioshock) or they get extra specialized skills (Civilzation IV). In both games there is no way to grind for skills, however both games are granting bonuses for active gameplay. However it's more like granting extra, specialized stuff than just 'get more hp, deal more damage' approach.

Ok. So what about am I concerned? In poor games leveling becomes a content. If game is so boring that it can't be more boring, leveling becomes a content (like Diablo series, right?). If we have some good but not yet optimized idea for the Upfire, we may not get a second chance.

But still it's better to die trying something new, than create the same content we had for millenniums.

I just started watching this soap opera around the beginning of May….around that time 'the secret' wasn't known yet.

As you may have seen.. she(Milagros aka Mili) was about to get married to the blonde haired guy (Alejandro).. his mother told Mili that she was the daughter of Alejandro's father.. which is true.. she did this because she hates her and didn't want her son to marry "the maid"…Mili was a maid in the house..

Alejandro's mother (Luciana) is married to Constancio Belmonte… Constancio is Mili's father (Mili was not aware of this until Luciana told her)…. What Luciana failed to mention (and she did this on purpose) was that Constancio is NOT Alejandro's father.. so they are actually NOT brother and sister.. she only wanted Mili to believe this so that she would not marry her son…

As soon as Luciana told Mili they were related (which was a lie).. Mili did everything in her power to push Alejandro away.. she eventually told him why they couldn't be together…

He got married with someone else… on the wedding day..after the ceremony. Luciana confessed to Mili that Alejandro was not Constancio's son… Mili tried to run after Alejandro but it was too late.. he left the country… this was last week…

about three years have passed… notice how many of the characters have different hairstyles. hehhe

Alejandro is back in mexico [with his wife]… Mili is about to tell him that they are actually not related when his pregnant wife walks in..

by the way.. Alejandro's wife knows the truth.. she knows that he and Mili are not related.. and is afraid he will find out the truth.
