Finding Diablo Ii Set Items

Diablo II questions?

Where is the best area's to magic find? What are the best area's to rune find? Find unique items? Set items? rare Items? Whats the best kind of char. for hell? What are the best skills to beef on each char.?

Firstly, to maximise your chances at finding a good unique, you will need to be in the Hell difficulty (this will not increase the amount of magic items, but will increase the quality). One other thing to note is that the more people in your game, the better your chances of finding a good unique.

Remember your MF% rating does not increase the amount of magic items dropped either, it only affects the quality. Due to diminishing returns, it is useless to sacrifice good items for %MF over 300. So what does all that jargon mean for you?

1) Add up your total %MF from all your equipped items.
2) If you have roughly 300% MF total, there's no point in changing items to get more %MF. Change items to get more damage, survivability etc.

In my experience, the best MF character is the 'Hammerdin' (a Paladin subclass based around the use of Blessed Hammer). For more info on building a Hammerdin check out: http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=502

If you want to maximise you rune finding chances, run The Countess (she's in Act I, in the forgotten tower in the Black Marsh area). There's no need to run any other bosses if runes are your primary objective.

If your looking for Sojs (Diablo 2 currency, effectively) run Andariel (Act I boss, located in the Catacombs level 4). You can run her in nightmare as well, but as always chances are better in Hell.

For Shako, Skulders Ire or Arachnid Sashes you should run Mephisto in Hell (Act III boss, located in the Durance of Hate level 3).

If your after godly uniques in general (meaning those not mentioned above) you should run Bhaal in hell (Act V boss, Worldstone Chamber area). If you can't do Bhaal, do Diablo he's almost as good, and much easier (Act IV boss, Chaos Sanctuary area).

As for what character is best for hell, they're all good if you can afford the items for them. Paladin, Sorceress, Assassin and Barbarian are all really great. Druids, Necromancers and Amazons are less so for PvM and magic finding, but all can be good with the right build. Paladins are certainly very easy to play in their 'Hammerdin' form and basically the most effective MF'ers in the game (they can also hold their own in PvP, though that is a secondary role to the PvM).

I recommend playing the Paladin for hell MF. They're not only the best, but they are very straight forward to play (and win) with.
