  • You need to spend YEARS working under a professional trainer before you even think of starting your own business? What happens when you find a horse that you don't know how to handle? From the sound of it, you've never had any real training, and that is just a recipe for disaster. You and/or your friend and/or someone you "train" are going to end up seriously injured or dead.

My mother—born and raised in Cairo, Egypt—had told me stories about how her family would pack up their apartment along the Nile, wrapping the furniture in heavy tarps to keep the dust and sand away, and drive to Alexandria for the entire summer. They’d walk the length of the cornice that bordered the Mediterranean; they’d eat grilled corn from street vendors; they’d bake on the beach until their skin was brown-red and they couldn’t stand the heat anymore. She dreaded the day they had to leave their summer oasis and return to the dusty big city life.
