Diablo 2 question about patches?
I have vista and got the latest patch so it could work, but i think that in the prior patches there are all these advantages for the characters, so, can anyone tell me if its possible to have the game unpatched and still working?
BTW i play single player so it won't affect nothing in multiplayer or whatever
You'd need to install a fresh, un-patched version of the game. Then choose which patch you'd like to install:
Original D2 - http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/diablo2/patches/PC/
D2 w/ LoD expansion - http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/diablo2exp/patches/PC/
Or leave it unpatched, whatever. You need to be up-to-date to play online, but single player should work fine.
The patches BALANCE the game though... you want it to be easy or something? The latest patch lets you play without the CD.

Is it possible to run Diablo 2 on Windows Vista?
Is there a patch that I can download or install that will allow me to run Diablo 2 on Windows Vista? My copy says that it is not compatible, is there a way to run it?
yes there is
install it on vista
right click on the .exe
go to properties
go to the compability tab
mark the box in "compability mode"
select Windows XP in the dropdown menu
should work now

how to find diablo 2 lord of destruction patch?
and
can u give me the url?
go to blizzard.com there is a whole lot to select from. find diablo 2 lod, and wether ur eastern, or western etc..click on the one u need and there are steps there to help u get what patch u need. also sometimes when u put ur disk in the patch automatically installs for u.

i installed a patch for Diablo 2 LOD for online play, now wont start up help?
Like wont even get into the game
no menu
no cinematics, nothing
just stays at desktop
It was reported that the mod doesn't work with some no-cd cracks. Otherwise, make sure you installed the 1.10 patch, and not one of the 1.10 betas. I would completely uninstall and reinstall fresh to be sure. Good luck.

can diablo 2 patches remove items that had previously been in other patches?
Yes, there are particular items that are specific to each patch. Some people avoid playing on BNET servers to prevent auto-update for this reason (among other reasons--like aura stacking). Some items' names get changed and some items lose runeword functionality. The runes may still be in the item but the runeword itself has become nullified. Sad but true.

Diablo 2 Soundtrack (Tristram)
Can someone help me with Diablo 2 compability?
I was wondering where I can find a list of what all kinds of pc's Diablo 2 is compatable with. Also, I have windows vista and I was reading somewhere on the internet about a patch you download so you can play Diablo 2 even with Windows Vista. What's a patch, exactly? Maybe I wasn't reading it correctly. Sorry if i'm not making any sense. 
Much help would be appreciated. Thank you.

* Pentium® 233 or equivalent
* 32 MB RAM
* 650 MB available hard drive space
* 4X CD-ROM drive
* DirectX compatible video card
These are the requirements, to check what you're PC has go to:
Start
Run...
then type "dxdiag" (no quotes) and click ok
A new window will pop up showing your system spec
As for what a patch is, it is simply a upgrade/fix for a program
