Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction v1.10?

I have the CD, somewhere, and I have been playing for awhile, but need a CDpatch so my chars don't expire, a site, or link to the file, would be helpful.

Yes, you can find all the patches at Blizzard's site (see the link above)

IMO it doesnt sound like a MMO. A “long term” campaign sounds almost opposite of a MMO. I would say it be more like Dragon Age where they keep releasing story DLC that expands the campaign.

order it online to be shipped to you, or get the battlechest which includes all diablo titles, and is sold at most retailers or video game stores.
there are no "free" downloads that are not illegal.

I didn't even know Doom had multiplayer until this year. I didn't get my taste of internet after DOS, and didn't experience online multiplayer until I joined Everquest sometime around 1999 or 2000. It's hard to believe it hasn't even been 20 years since the internet became common for personal computers.

PerfectDark 64 and Diablo 2 were pivotal games for me.

PerfectDark allowed me to set up multiplayer games without having to worry about time, connection, or players who take the game way more seriously than I do.

Diablo 2 showed me that it's possible for a game to stay fresh after many months, and even be picked up again years later. That game encapsulated so much of what I hope for in all games.
